Barcelona and Catalonia

The ERAS project in Barcelona continues to inform our foundational values in ecological restoration, participatory research, and degrowth. In 2018, we supported accessibility planning in a community garden and participated in alternative housing initiatives rooted in degrowth principles. These experiences strengthened our commitment to land-based equity and non-extractive design.

We are honored that ERAS team member Erica Fierro has been selected for the 2025 Degrowth Summer School in Barcelona, continuing our engagement with the region’s post-growth movement.

We seek to collaborate with aligned local organizations such as Coòpolis, La Dinamo Fundació, Can Masdeu, and Espai Germanetes, who are advancing cooperative housing, community food sovereignty, and public space reclamation. We also aim to support Barcelona’s Climate Emergency Plan, Green Infrastructure and Biodiversity Plan, and Catalonia’s broader goals around just transition, circular economies, and bioregional resilience. ERAS offers tools in ecosystem restoration, community co-design, and regenerative urban ecology to contribute meaningfully to these efforts.
